Dr Roman Cunis, diagnostics specialist at ServiceXpert in Hamburg and valued speaker at the diagnostics conference, has contributed a paper to the 14th symposium's accompanying conference book that looks at the aspect of end-2-end diagnostics for so-called extended vehicles.
While nowadays the diagnostics always focuses on the vehicle itself. With increasingly distributed vehicle functionality in the so-called Extended Vehicle, it is becoming more and more important to address Extended Diagnostics as well. In the world of interconnected vehicles, the network will become part of the vehicle function, a network-related problem will be understood as problem of the vehicle and thus of a workshop. The ensuing need for end-2-end diagnostics brings new requirements for all participants of the network. These requirements are in the focus of this article. They result in demands for the standardization of software components which must be considered “virtual control units”.
