Java microservices on-premise / cloud for Automotive Security Backend

The Java engineers of ServiceXpert support various major customers and develop Java-Microservices in the area of Security and Firmware Over-The-Air (FOTA).

These microservices are implemented with various technologies such as JavaEE and Spring. The microservices are implemented with minimal footprint from Quarkus, Payara Micro to Spring Boot on different server architectures.

The cloud (from AWS to Azure) also offers many technologies on which ServiceXpert's security developers can build upon. Existing services are used and integrated. Legacy systems including databases are migrated to the new environments and adapted to the new requirements. Runtime environments such as Kubernetes and horizontally scalable systems are used to distribute application clusters across different zones in the world. All of this contributes to creating highly available and fail-safe systems.

In the customer projects, automation and generators are used throughout. This be from creating the cloud infrastructure, build and deployment to testing and documenting the application.

The interfaces are standardised and monitored for changes. The running systems are monitored by known monitoring systems. Failures are partly automatically detected by the infrastructure and partly automatically repaired. Deployments and restarts are carried out without downtime.

The microservices are linked and secured with standard technologies and current security standards. To further improve security for encrypting and signing data, standardised security hardware can be used, if part of the customer requirements. New Java standards also simplify the integration of authentication and authorisation methods into the applications.

The ServiceXpert Java professionals work independently in the Scrum team and support several microservices. The agile development method promotes close cooperation within the team and enables a constant, close-meshed review of the requirements and deployments.

ServiceXpert, a company of the ESG Mobility Group, employs over 85 staff in Hamburg and Munich. ServiceXpert is a Europe-wide operating system and software house with a focused service portfolio for Lifecycle management of EE information for leading manufacturers of commercial vehicle and their supplier industry.
