The journey from driver assistance systems to fully autonomous vehicles was the beginning and is already well advanced to varying degrees depending on the type of vehicle and its use. While autonomous industrial trucks are part of the daily picture in many logistics and warehouse locations, the first applications for trucks in "restricted areas" such as mines, port areas or logistics warehouses are being defined, as the challenges and (legal) hurdles for autonomous vehicles in road traffic are currently still too high. Shaping the future
The leading commercial vehicle manufacturers already successfully demonstrated autonomous driving in so-called Platoons on European motorways in 2016 and are making great steps towards autonomous driving in multi-brand networks with their challenges of Car2Car communication. The ServiceXpert engineering team has been supporting one of the leading commercial vehicle manufacturers since the beginning of the developments on this journey to fully autonomous driving (SAE Level 5).
Autonomous driving systems
The focus of ServiceXpert's development work includes the further development of the HMI for autonomous driving functions, function development for Car2X communication, software development for platooning systems with regard to longitudinal and transverse control, development and integration of safety components in accordance with ISO 26262, integration of software modules on new technologies and innovative platforms as well as modelling of fuel-efficient driving functions.
